Co-Chair and Treasurer
New Orleans native Ron Pierce recently joined PBS as Senior Director, PBS Veterans Initiative on the Station Services team. In this role, he leads the planning, coordination, and implementation of PBS’ Stories of Service initiative in support of veterans, which includes working closely with member stations, CPB, NPR, other public media partners, and veterans’ groups across the country.
Prior to PBS, Ron worked for the Democratic National Committee, where he was National Director of Veterans Outreach, Director of Small Business Outreach, and Deputy Director of Constituency Outreach. Specifically in his work with veterans, Ron organized, developed and managed the national veterans and military family outreach program, working to ensure this important group’s integration and consideration in Democratic Party policies and values. During President Obama’s re-election campaign, Ron also spent time as State Veteran Outreach Director at the North Carolina branch of Obama for America, where he led and managed the statewide veteran outreach program.
A combat veteran, Ron spent 12 years in the U.S. Army, ultimately reaching the rank of Major. During his service, he spent time stationed in Minsk, Belarus as a Nunn-Lugar Nuclear Arms Reduction Officer, and also served as Commanding Officer for a 150-person artillery unit.
Ron attended the Defense Language Institute and earned his B.S. in Human Services from West Point, and holds a Master of International Affairs in Russian Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School and Stanford University. Ron began serving on the Board of Directors of Bailey’s Café in 2014 and became Treasurer in 2015 and Co-Chair in March 2016.
