A Brooklyn native and educator, Brittany Grier began her formal dance training at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Dance Theater. Her training continued further at Lehman College, where she received a Bachelors of Arts in dance, minoring in therapeutic recreation. She’s been invited as a guest choreographer for their production of In The Heights and Herbert H. Dance Company. Credits in performance include Danspace Project at St. Marks, Gibney Dance Center, Dixon Place, Lincoln Center, Vermont Dance Festival,The Irondale Theater, the 2016 Bessies at B.A.M. and Dance Africa. Also, she’s had the privilege of working with The Raving Janes, Nicholas Leichter, Adia Whitaker of Ase Dance Theater Collective, Afaliah Tribune, to name a few. Currently, she is part of Movement Of The People Dance Company under the artistic direction of Joya Powell. Within building as well as sharing dance, Brittany Grier works as a teaching artist with Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation, Stem From Dance, has taught at MOPDC’s annual winter intensive, and is with Bailey’s Cafe. Her sharing will be extended in an excerpt of Hair Ties, as part of Pentacle Presents The Gallery: Boston at the Dance Complex May 11-12, 2018. She is grateful to use her art as a vehicle that drives connections between the story (movement) of individuals with how they share in their community. Brittany has been teaching dance for Bailey’s summer program since 2015.
